Veeam - Setting up Cloud Copy

Veeam - Setting up Cloud Copy

Please follow the below steps when setting up cloud copy to our offsite repository. Prior to doing this you will need to set Safe Data Storage as your service provider, a link to doing that can be found here.

Open up your Veeam Backup and Replication Client and select "Backup Copy". Here will you will be given the option to backup (or copy as it is referred to inside Veeam) a "Virtual Machine" or "Windows computer backup". For this example we are going to select a "Virtual Machine". From here you will be able to select for either "VMWare" or "Hyper-V".

The first step is to name the job, adding a description is optional. You will then need to select the type of copy mode you would like to use. Press "Next" to proceed.

The next step is adding the objects you wish to select, you can do this via the "Add" button you see on the right hand side. From here you will see the network and you can select what you wish. When you have added what you wish, press "Next" to proceed to the next step.

Here you need to add the backup repository you are using. You will also be able to set retention (restore points to keep)  and edit some other options if you see fit. Press "next" to proceed.

You can decide which Data Transfer option would be best for you, either "Direct" or "Through built-in WAN accelerators" and press "Next" to proceed.

The next step is setting the schedule, as you can see you either leave it to run continuously or, by using the day/hour grid, you can deselect certain times you do not wish the backup to run. Once you are happy press "apply" and you are all done.

Once applied your Backup Copy Job to our Cloud is ready to go.
