Cause:
This issue may occurs if the shadow copy storage area of the temporary volume specified for the backup set is configured to another volume.
To check on the location of the storage area, please refer to the following steps:
Open a command prompt, run vssuirun.
- Select the volume which was selected as temporary directory.
- Select Settings...
- Under Storage area, check if the Located on this volume is set to another volume:
Resolution:
To resolve the issue, please modify the Storage area back to the corresponding volume itself. You may need to set the maximum size to 300MB so that it removes the existing shadow copies on the drive.
Change the location back to the corresponding volume itself, then OK.
Perform the backup MS Windows System backup afterward.
